  • Earth Day and Pledge Tree-

Earth Day aims to sensitize the people across the world to be more environmentally friendly. It is celebrated on 22nd April every year.

The students of The Indian Academy Sharjah held a special assembly on Earth Day on 25th April 2017 in the school auditorium. The presenters of the assembly were vocal about the various major issues harming the Earth and also gave solutions. A special Earth Day song was sung by the students followed by the Earth Day Pledge. The students paused to think about the environment at the assembly. It is true that the world is but a canvas to our imagination. Innovation on the part of the students was but obvious through a short movie based on environment. As a token of appreciation of earth’s natural environment, a 3D tree was placed at the school reception area. The students and the staff wrote their own authentic short pledge on the paper carved leaf and placed it on the 3D tree.

Overall the event was informative and it helped to develop an attitude of caring in the students towards the environment.

  • Read a Tree (Neem Tree) – activity was held on 17th April 2017 for Grades 1-4. The underlying objective was to develop the reading and comprehension skills with a perfect combination of observation and investigation skills. The students clearly understood that learning about trees is fun. Cross curricular links like social skills (testing smell, five senses) oral language development (finger play, drama) mathematics (counting, matching) were also established.
